D-GROUPS
Small Discipleship Groups

PURPOSE
The purpose of the D- Group ministry at Frontline Community Church is to provide small group settings where people can feel they belong, and learn to love God, follow Christ, and love others through:

Bible Study: Reading and reflecting on scripture has been identified as the number one catalyst for spiritual formation and growth. An in-depth study, discussion, and application of God’s word allow the Holy Spirit to mold hearts and group life.

Environments that are Emotional Safe Havens where individuals can process issues they are facing, as well as an atmosphere that is trusting enough to safely admit shortcomings and mistakes. The “belong before you believe” value presents a non-judgmental, listen lots but speak little support that allows the Holy Spirit to work through issues.

Lasting Friendships: Time is needed to build authentic relationships. Community is developed through shared meals, fun, shared crisis, extended family gatherings, and spontaneous discussions. Natural mentor relationships develop over time.

Others Focused Service: Equipping group members to serve, utilizing God-given gifts and talents, and developing apprentice leaders through group-life are natural way to build and strengthen God’s kingdom in the local church, the community, and the world. Serving together helps people grow spiritually and builds authentic community.

Nurturing Accountability to each other to become disciples and, together, to grow more like Christ. Pray with and for each other.

Group Multiplication and Evangelism: by following the kingdom mustard seed principle that our lives should draw others to God. The goal of each group should be to grow as God sends individuals into our lives. As the group grows, it should naturally multiply so that Jesus’ example of small group discipleship can continue.

Why a Spiritual Growth Path?

New Testament churches are charged with “making disciples”, which means
we want to create opportunities for individuals to become fully devoted
followers of Jesus.

God’s design for growth is in the context of community, so Frontline has
chosen Discipleship Groups as the avenue for those opportunities. The church
wants to facilitate groups of individuals who know God and the Bible, know
their giftedness, share a global and compassionate mindset, serve the church,
community and world, and share faith in a relational and story-oriented
environment.

The people of Frontline Community Church have requested clear “next steps”
to growth and a clearly defined path. The military terms flow from the name
of the church, Frontline, which refers to serving on the frontline battlefields
of the kingdom of God.
