IGNITE Have you ever thought that learning about the Bible or spending time at a church is like cutting grass? Fear no longer!! Ignite is Frontline’s midweek student program, (for 6th-12th graders), and it rocks!
Ignite is a place to spend time hanging out with friends, listen to loud music, and hear a relevant and creative teaching on living the Jesus life from our youth pastor Matthew Deprez. Ignite has experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the past year and a half, (it just keeps getting bigger and bigger), and students say that it’s the highlight of their week! We’d love to have you come by on a Wednesday night and check out why students want to keep coming back! For more information, join the Facebook group: IGNITE – Frontline Community Church.Time: Every Wednesday from 6-8pm
Recent statistics have shown that students who are in an isolated student ministry separate from the larger body of the church on a Sunday morning will probably not remain in church when they turn 18. We see that as a serious problem here at Frontline.
Our goal is for your student(s) to be connected in such a way that students see themselves as a crucial part of what happens at Frontline. Now here’s the good news: Statistics have also shown that students who are connected into the larger body of the church will more than likely stay in church when they graduate from high school. We call this “Intergenerational Ministry”, and we’re really serious about it. Students teaching adults as well as adults teaching students.
In that regard, we’ve asked ourselves the question: Can a student serve in the same capacity as an adult on a Sunday morning? We see the answer being a resounding yes! Since the fall of 2009 we’ve done the unthinkable – Allowed students to serve on a Sunday morning! (Shocking, I know…). And what we’ve seen has been nothing short of incredible. Students on Sunday mornings are serving in children’s ministry, greeting people at the front door, making coffee, taking the offering, cleaning the floors, and the list could go on and on. In just a few short months, we’ve seen so making students take the step of being connected into a larger picture of a church rather than just “student ministries.”
Since our Sunday morning services are conducive to a middle school and high schoolers spiritual growth, we ask students to serve one service, and attend one service. This way students are getting solid discipleship twice per week (Sunday morning and Wednesday night – see “Ignite”), and are able to put this discipleship into practice as well on Sunday mornings. Pretty cool, huh?
How to get signed up: We have an amazing adult named Diane Warmuskerken in charge of scheduling and can answer any question(s) you may have regarding Sunday morning serving opportunities. Please feel free to contact her by email at: diane@warmuskerken.com or by phone at: 616.363.7938 to see how you or your student can be involved. We can’t wait to have your student serving!
Hello Students!
My name is Matthew. I love Jesus…(and the Red Sox…a lot). Please feel free to drop by Ignite on a Wednesday night, and see what the students at Ignite do each week. Ignite has been growing like crazy in the past year and a half, and we’re so excited to have you join us as we continue to grow.
Here’s my main goal for any student that comes to Ignite:Our program on Wednesday is a balance of fun and serious. We believe we can talk about Jesus while having a ton of fun at the same time. Sometimes when I speak, you’ll see me dressed in a radioactive suit, or eating a super-sized Bic Mac meal while I’m speaking. I’ve even been known to baptize a cow tongue on a Wednesday night, too! I, along with our entire adult leadership team, would love to see you on a Wednesday night! Grace and Peace to all of you!
My name is Matthew Deprez. I’ve been on staff as the Now Generation Pastor since the Summer of 2008. My aim is for your student(s) to experience what it means to live like Jesus, and be radically changed because of His unrelenting love for them while they’re still in school.
I also want to be as available for you as possible. I believe in the direct partnering with parents in ministry, and want to make sure what we do at Ignite is communicated as best as possible with you as parents.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at Ext. 116, or by email at mdeprez@frontlinegr.com. Grace and Peace to you.
